MFT in the Community

October 16, 2012

One of the biggest goals for our unit is increasing our community outreach and coalition building.   In going over our community and school profile, it became very clear that our area is facing extremely difficult times.  We have lost the majority of our major businesses, there are very few jobs with decent pay and/or benefits.   Many of our students and their families live below the poverty line.   This affects how students perform in school.

A kew initiative for our LAP program is Community Dinners.   We will be hosting five different community dinners throughout the school year.  All families in our community are welcome to attend.   They will be given a free, healthy meal and participate in short programs that are informative and fun.  The Middle School members will be leading the first dinner on October 30.   We are picking the December dinner and Franklin Academy members will be leading with help from the many staff that would like to do Holiday Music!

Through this program, we are hoping to create a solid bridge between us and the community.   We are all looking forward to helping our community grow and making certain that our children have a happy, safe and solid future.

We will be looking forward for members to create a float for the Winter Carnival and participate in the parade.

Malone Winter Carnival Parade

February 5, 2012

Saturday, 2-4-2012

What a beautiful day for a winter parade.

Today, Malone celebrated winter with a parade from the Franklin County Courthouse to Flanders Elementary School.  Numerous community businesses and school buildings were represented.

Many Malone Federation of Teacher members walked with their children, their building or with community organizations in which they are involved.
